Play To Win!

Any Boro Board Con All-Access Pass holder can check out a Play to Win Game for their group. You check the game out, play the game, and then return the game. Each checkout allows one group to get one entry each to win the game at the end of the convention.

How to Enter

Visit the Play to Win library. Sign a game out with the attendant, leaving your ID with them while you play. Once you return the game (and retrieve your ID), you will be asked for the names of each All-Access Pass holder who played, and a rating for the game. Once you have your name down (legibly) on the sign-out sheet, you’re entered!

The Fine Print

How many times can I enter?

You can play as many games as you like, but you only get one entry per checkout. If you play multiple times during your check out, you still only get one entry per checkout. The goal is to let as many people as possible play the games.

What about a game like Spyfall, where you play a dozen times on one checkout?

We assume that all groups will play a similar number of times for short games, and everyone will get one entry per checkout. In cases like this, please keep the game for a reasonable amount of time and then check in, and all players who played will get one entry each.

Can I immediately check a game back out?

No, the game must go back into circulation to let everyone have an opportunity to play games. We want as many groups as possible to get chances to play the most popular games.

Can my group check out a stack of games and then play them all back to back and check them in at once?

Please do not do this. This is game hoarding, and we want all games in play as much as possible. You should not check out more than one game for your game group at a time. Participants found in violation of this will forfeit their Play to Win entries for those particular game check outs.

Can I play my personal copy of a game and get an entry into Play to Win? What about the Library copy?

The only copies of the game that can generate Play to Win entries are the copies available at the Play to Win table. All other copies are ineligible.

How many games can a person win in Play to Win?

Each individual all-access pass can win two games from the Play to Win. You may choose to pass on a win early in the winner announcements if you like, but you cannot change your mind later.

If I pass on an early win, but then don’t win the one I wanted, can I go back and claim the earlier one?

No. If you pass on a win, we will move on to the next randomly selected name on the list. That person will win the game, and you cannot claim it after that.

When are Play and Win games given away?

Play to Win games will be given away beginning around 9 pm, as soon as the logistics of repacking and choosing the winners for the games is complete. Winners will be called at this time.

What if I can’t be there at 9pm to claim my prize?

You must be present to win. If you are not available to claim your prize in a reasonable amount of time, we will move on to the next randomly generated name on the list.

What about games that are unclaimed?

We will do our best to ensure that each game finds a home. However, in the event that no one plays a game in the window before 9pm, or no participant is available to claim the game and all names are called, the game will go back into our library to wait until next year’s play to win.
